2026年4月17日，深圳医学科学院（SMART）与香港大学李嘉诚医学院（HKUMed）联合举办的学术交流活动在深举行。香港大学李嘉诚医学院院长刘泽星、副院长潘烈文率团到访，深圳医学科学院创始院长颜宁、党委副书记张欣豪及相关部门负责人出席。100余位科研人员、临床专家和青年学者共同参与活动。

On April 17, 2026, the Shenzhen Medical Academy of Research and Translation (SMART) and the LKS Faculty of Medicine of the University of Hong Kong (HKUMed) co-hosted an academic exchange event at SMART in Shenzhen, bringing together more than 100 researchers, clinicians, and early-career scholars from both institutions. Professor Chak-sing Lau, Dean of HKUMed, and Professor Leo Poon, Associate Dean (Human Capital), visited with a delegation. They were welcomed by Professor Nieng Yan, Founding President of SMART, Dr. Xinhao Zhang, Deputy Party Secretary, and representatives from SMART.

活动期间，香港大学代表团实地参访深圳医学科学院，全面了解SMART在基础研究、临床转化、平台建设、人才培养等方面的布局与进展。粤港澳大湾区国际临床试验中心（BAY TRIAL）主任李镒冲与粤港澳大湾区国际临床试验所（GBAICTI）行政总裁张文勇分别介绍了 “一中心一所”（即临床试验中心与试验所）的协同发展机制，涵盖深港临床资源统筹、跨境机制创新与协同、真实世界数据应用等内容。双方表示，将进一步深化临床研究、人才培训及数据共享等方面的协作，共同助推大湾区创新药械研发与转化。

During the visit, the HKU delegation toured SMART’s facilities, gaining an overview of its work in basic research, clinical translation, core facilities, and talent development. Representatives from the Greater Bay Area International Clinical Trials Center (BAY TRIAL) and the Greater Bay Area International Clinical Trial Institute (GBAICTI) presented their collaborative model for advancing clinical trials across the region, highlighting the integration of Shenzhen–Hong Kong clinical resources, cross-border coordination, and the use of real-world data. Both sides expressed interest in expanding collaboration in clinical research, training, and data sharing to support the development and translation of innovative therapies and medical technologies.

在学术研讨会环节，颜宁指出，SMART与HKUMed在传染病防控与治疗、神经退行性疾病、罕见病、公共卫生及人工智能赋能医学研究等领域拥有共同的研究兴趣与互补优势。SMART致力于打通从基础研究到转化医学、再到临床应用的全链条创新，而HKUMed在临床医学、医学教育及下一代医学领袖人才培养方面享有盛誉。基于此前签署的合作谅解备忘录，双方将在人才培养、学术交流及联合研究等领域持续深化合作，共同推动粤港澳大湾区建设成为具有全球影响力的生物医学科学中心。

Opening the joint symposium, Professor Nieng Yan highlighted the strong alignment between SMART and HKUMed in areas including infectious diseases, neurological disorders, rare diseases, public health, and AI-powered biomedical research. She noted that SMART is building an integrated model spanning basic research, translational science, and clinical application, while HKUMed brings strengths in clinical medicine, medical education, and the training of future healthcare leaders. Under their Memorandum of Understanding, the two institutions will continue to expand collaboration in talent development, academic exchange, and joint research, with the shared goal of advancing the Greater Bay Area as a globally competitive center for biomedical science.

学术分享环节中，双方的科研人员共带来19场精彩的报告。研究内容涵盖焦虑抑郁相关膜蛋白发现、人类胚胎谱系示踪、PET脑功能成像、AI驱动的虚拟临床试验与疾病筛查、冷冻电镜自动化处理、脊柱畸形智能诊疗、血脑屏障调控、骨科感染超声治疗、药物转化创新、气候变化与微生物组等前沿热点。同时，双方还围绕深圳国家基因库（SMART-NBC）、“浪淘沙”预印本平台（LTS Preprint Server）和转化创新中心（TIC）等科研基础设施建设展开交流，并就数据要素流动、开放科学等议题交换了意见。

The symposium featured 19 presentations from researchers across SMART, HKUMed, and partner institutions, covering topics such as brain imaging, AI-driven clinical trials and disease screening, cryo-electron microscopy, spinal disorders, blood–brain barrier regulation, ultrasound-based therapies, drug development, and the impact of climate change on microbiome. Participants also exchanged views on research infrastructure, including the SMART-National Biobank of China (SMART-NBC), the LTS Preprint Server and the Translational Innovation Center (TIC). 

会议最后，刘泽星致闭幕辞。他对本次研讨会的成功举办表示祝贺，强调此次活动是深港医学合作的良好开端。未来，双方将建立常态化交流机制，持续推进人才培养、学术交流与联合研究，将学术共识落实为合作成果，共同服务人类健康事业。

In closing remarks, Professor Chak-sing Lau described the event as a strong starting point for deeper collaboration between Shenzhen and Hong Kong. He noted that both sides will establish regular exchange mechanisms and work to translate shared academic priorities into tangible outcomes.

The event provided a platform for closer engagement in scientific research, technology transfer, and talent exchange. Looking ahead, SMART and HKUMed will continue to build on their partnership to support the development of the biomedical sector in the Greater Bay Area.

With the 2026 APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting set to take place in Shenzhen, new opportunities for international scientific collaboration are emerging. SMART will continue to expand partnerships with Hong Kong and beyond, contributing to global scientific progress and human health.
